Canandaigua Braves Ranked #20 Nationally (6/18/08)

The Canandaigua Braves are ranked #20 in the STX/Inside Lacrosse year-end poll. This is the highest ranking any Section V team has been given by this national poll since 2001 when Penn Yan won the NYS Class C championship.  Our Braves are also ranked #8 in the Northeast region.

Congratulations to the Canandaigua Varsity Braves for an unprecedented season (6/17/08)

The Varsity Braves ended their unprecedented season with a loss to the West Genny Wildcats in the Class A State Tournament semi-final, 11-10.  The 2008 Braves have gone further in Class A than any prior Braves team and end their season 23-1.  Congratulations to the coaches and players for an incredible season.  You gave the parents and fans a thrilling ride!
 

Braves Move On (6/10/08)

The CA Braves moved into the State semi-final by defeating Orchard Park 11-5 in the quarters in Buffalo.  The Braves jumped to an early 5-0 lead, then 9-1 at halftime.  They then cruised to the 11-5 victory.  Next stop is the state semi-final on Thursday, 6/12, 3:30 against perennial power West Genesee at Coyne Field in Syracuse.  Directions to the game will be posted here later.

2008 Finger Lakes All-League (6/9/08)

   The Finger Lakes coaches announced league honors today.  Congratulations to Coach Mulheron for receiving Coach of the Year, Scott Bement for All-American, Evan Roth for Academic All-American, and 17 Braves for receiving honors including 10 on the first team!!!  Click here for a complete list.

 

Canandaigua Section V Class A Champions!!!!

   Tonight your Canandaigua Braves (22-0) won the 2008 Section V Class A crown by defeating Irondequoit 18-5!!!!  After a 2-2 first quarter, the Braves dominated the game in every facet and pulled away to eventual running time in the 4th.  Congratulations to the coaches and players on an incredible game and an outstanding season so far.  Next stop - the state tournament where they will face Orchard Park in the first round in Buffalo, on Tuesday, 6/10, 3:30.  Check back here for more details and directions later.

Canandaigua Invitational Lacrosse Tournament - 6/21

   This year's Canandaigua Tournament will be held on Saturday, 6/21. Information is available here. Many parent volunteers are needed and are a huge part of the success of this tournament. Please contact Cindy Alves to let her know you are available to help. Without you this won't be possible.

WCGR to broadcast Canandaigua Lacrosse Games

   WCGR, 1550 AM and 104.5 FM, has announced that they wil be broadcasting Canandaigua Lacrosse games live this season, both home games and away games (facility permitting). The games may even be archived and available at WCGR's website www.fingerlakesdailynews.com. If you or your business is interested in sponsoring the games or advertising during the games, contact the Geneva sales office at (315) 781-7000.

   The 2008 Program is now complete. Thanks to everyone that contributed their time to help build the program, solicit ads, or purchase ads. It will be available at the concession stand at all home games.

2007 Finger Lakes All-League

   The Canandaigua Braves placed 13 players on the Finger Lakes All-League teams this year, including 7 First team-ers.  Also congratulations to Charlie Sauter for being named Academic All-American.  Click here for the complete list of Finger Lakes All-League teams or here for the Canandaigua only players.

2007 Varsity Season ends

   Congratulations to the Varsity players & coaches for another fantastic season, finishing 17-3 and ranked as high as 15th in the nation according to Laxpower.  Have a great & safe summer.

2006 Finger Lakes All-League

Coach John Johnson Retiring

   Coach Johnson has retired from coaching the Canandaigua Boys Varsity Lacrosse team after 26 years at the helm, which will coincide with his retirement from teaching in January.  This will also coincide with his acceptance to take over as head coach of the St. John Fisher lacrosse program.  Thanks, Coach, for the great run and everything you've done for Canandaigua, Canandaigua Lacrosse, and the men and boys that are a product of your program. Good luck at Fisher!  More info.

2005 Varsity Season Ends
