Canandaigua Girls Lacrosse will again be hosting a lacrosse festival, sponsored by Metro Sports. News: Registration is CLOSED. When: Sunday, October 18, 2009, 9 - 4:30 Where: Canandaigua Academy, 435 East St. , Canandaigua, NY
Who: Girls grades 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, JV, and Varsity. **New this year - K-2 exhibition games! Schedule: 10/13 11:15 - SCHEDULE IS NOW AVAILABLE. PLEASE VALIDATE FOR ERRORS. REQUESTS WERE ACCOMODATED WHERE POSSIBLE. CHECK BACK HERE OFTEN IN CASE THE SCHEDULE CHANGES. Teams so far:
FORMAT: Festival style, 5x25 minute games, 8 vs 8, smaller field, no championship. RULES: All rules will be consistent with US Lacrosse guidelines. The 3/4th Division will require an attempted pass in the offensive end of the field. The 3/4th and 5/6th graders will have no checking, The 7/8th grade Division will use modified checking, and Full checking for JV & Varsity. 1 x 25 minute game, no halftime. THERE IS A DRAW TO BEGIN THE GAME, AFTER A GOAL THE OFFICIALS WILL WHISTLE THE BALL INTO PLAY AND THE SCORED UPON GOALIE WILL CLEAR THE BALL. There will be certified refs at all games 5/6 and above. How much: $350 per team If you are interested in entering teams, email Dan Knapton. . If you are going to the Goblin Games or Turkeyshoot in Ithaca, this will be a good warm-up. SPONSORS & vendors: If you are interesting in sponsoring or attending as a vendor, please contact Kim D'Amore or Dan Knapton. NOTE player, coach, and fan behavior policy: please keep in mind that we are here for the kids to have fun. It is meant to be a fun festival for everyone and a warm-up for the goblin games. The referees will be instructed to maintain a very low tolerance to abuse, negative comments, harassment, and poor sportsmanship. One incident will result in the immediate removal of the offending individual from the festival grounds. Game suspension for the offending team will be in force until the offender has left the festival. Consideration for participation in future festivals will also be affected. This policy is meant to protect the spirit of lacrosse and maintain a festival atmosphere for enjoyment by all. NOTE INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY: Due to the uncertainty of the weather this time of year, it may be necessary to cancel the festival partially or in full due to inclement weather. Because of the amount of planning on everyone's part we we will proceed with the festival unless the weather is so bad as to be a health or safety issue, or the fields become un-playable. The decision to cancel would be made the morning of the festival. At some time after that, we would calculate and deduct the sunken expenses and a percentage of your tournament entry fee would be returned. Games cancelled after the festival has started would not be subject to a refund.
