Ninth Annual Holiday Sale - November 19th, 2011

October 16, 2011 - Canandaigua Lacrosse will be having their 9th Annual Holiday Sale on Saturday, November 19th, 2011. The event this year will again be part of the PTSA's Shopper's Showcase and be held at the Canandaigua Elementary School from 9AM - 3PM. Available will be hoodies, sweats, t-shirts, hats, chairs, blankets, socks, shorts and MUCH MORE!! See our flyer for further details.

Special Order - Courtney Wagner T-Shirts

October 16, 2011 - As many of you are most likely aware, there is a Canandaigua Academy student who recently began the battle of her life. Courtney Wagner, a 9th grader on the Girls Soccer team, began experiencing headaches in early September. On September 9th, a CT scan revealed a tumor on her brain. A subsequent MRI showed a second tumor. The first, and bigger, tumor is a stage 4 cancer. The smaller tumor is a stage 1.

The Canandaigua Lacrosse community is notorious for rallying around families when they need it the most. As we did last year for another cause, we have come up with a long-sleeved t-shirt to sell in an effort to raise money for Courtney's family. Since Courtney’s favorite color is purple, we have decided to design a purple shirt with Canandaigua Lacrosse printed in silver with sticks and a silver cancer ribbon.

The cost of the shirt is $20. Our goal is to sell as many of these as possible and donate 100% of the profits to the Wagner Family. Thank you for the support of this great cause. Click here for Order Form or Online Ordering

Voice of CA Braves Lacrosse Says Goodbye

June 9, 2011 - We would like to share the following email that we received today from Joe Lasky, the voice of CA Sports on WCGR radio the past 4 years. We will miss hearing your play-by-play and wish much success for you in the future! Thanks Joe for the great job!!

Dear CA Lax Boosters,

As you may or may not know, I was relieved of my duties with the Fingerlakes Radio Group earlier this week, meaning I will not be calling games on WCGR any longer. I understand my replacement has already been found, so sports will air on the station once again, starting this fall.

I wore many hats at my job, but my favorite one, without a doubt, was calling CA sports for the past 4 years. I have tons of great memories from calling football, as well as boys and girls basketball, but lacrosse will have a special place in my heart. I won't forget how all of you accepted me as a newcomer to the sport, and I never got tired of having you come up to me at games and thanking me. It was truly my pleasure to call nearly 250 total games on the station. Though I certainly did not get rich broadcasting games, I gained a lot more: an adopted hometown.

I won't be on the air anymore, but I'll certainly still be around sports whenever I get the chance. That, and I can still take comfort in re-establishing CA sports on WCGR.

This may lead to "bigger and better things," maybe not, but it won't be the same. Please stay in touch, and I will do the same. Again, thank you for allowing me to serve you as the radio voice of the Braves.

Sincerely,

Joe Lasky

Canandaigua Lacrosse donates to the Golisano Children's Hospital

This past season Canandaigua Lacrosse introduced a new tradition - "The Shirt". "The Shirt" is designed to incorporate the upcoming season's theme and meant to motivate and bring together all of Canandaigua Lacrosse. Every player and coach from K-12 is given "The Shirt" in March by the Booster Club. "The Shirt" is then made available as a fundraiser for a local charity. This year Golisano Children's Hospital was chosen and supporters of Canandaigua Lacrosse were able to raise and donate $250 from the proceeds of "The Shirt" sales. We still have a limited quantity of "The Shirt" available - now modified by the addition of "NY State Champion". If you would like to purchase one please contact Pam Helming. Canandaigua Lacrosse thanks the community for the support of this effort!
